Press release of 2024 Shanghai Eating Exhibition held in Shanghai Kerry Center.

　　On the afternoon of May 19th, the press conference of 2024 Shanghai International Import Food and Agricultural Products Exhibition (Shanghai Eating Exhibition for short) was successfully held in Kerry Center, Pudong. Zhao Minggang, former deputy director and senior agronomist of Standard Law Center of General Administration of Customs, Ge Liancheng, vice president of China Customs Association (former director of Inspection Department of General Administration of Customs), Zhang Peng, secretary general of China Customs Association, and Yang Jianzhuang, managing director of Gordon Exhibition Group, Gong Xuejuan, project director of Shanghai Gordon Commercial Exhibition Co., Ltd., several embassies and consulates in China (Shanghai), representatives of food industry associations and enterprises at home and abroad, and representatives of mainstream media and industry media attended the press conference.

　　There are two contents in this conference. First, the 2024 Shanghai International Import Food and Agricultural Products Exhibition (Shanghai Eating Exhibition) will be held in Shanghai Hongqiao-National Convention and Exhibition Center from May 11 to 13, 2024. With the aim of "new consumption, sharing global delicacies", the exhibition has a total planned area of 60,000 square meters, covering all kinds of imported food, meat and aquatic products, milk and dairy products, wine and spirits, drinks and bottled water, honey and tea, baking and coffee, sweets and nuts, cereals, oils and condiments, fruits and vegetables and agricultural products. It is estimated that more than 2,000 well-known and outstanding enterprises and industry organizations importing food and agricultural products at home and abroad will participate in the exhibition, and more than 200,000 professional visitors will attend the exhibition in person.

　　The second is to release the International Forum on Agricultural Food Safety Supervision and Customs Clearance on June 4, 2023, which is an important international exchange activity held to cooperate with the new regulations on imported food and agricultural products issued by the China Municipal Government. The activities will specially invite the Food Safety Bureau of the General Administration of Customs, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Plant Management, the Department of Customs Administration, local customs, the Institute of Agricultural Veterinary Drugs, the National Food Safety Assessment Center and other relevant institutions and industry experts of the China Government to conduct authoritative interpretation, training and on-site discussion on the new regulations. Through meetings and exchange activities at the exhibition, industry organizations and enterprises in more countries can learn about domestic and foreign food safety supervision and inspection and quarantine management methods, market access system requirements and processes, risk management and control, product classification and tariff calculation, industry requirements and related market information. In order to better help overseas enterprises understand the new policies and market demands of China, and provide a communication platform and a green channel for international trade and business expansion.

　　During the conference, witnessed by relevant leaders such as the Standard Law Center of the General Administration, China Customs Association and local customs, the organizer of the exhibition, Gordon Commercial and Danish Agricultural Committee, Spanish Pig Industry Alliance and other overseas institutions signed the agreement of intent to participate in the 2024 Shanghai Eating Exhibition, which attracted the attention and attention of many national institutions and enterprises in the overseas agricultural and food products industry.

　　The three-year epidemic situation has complicated the international agricultural trade situation. In the face of challenges, China insists on comprehensively expanding high-level opening up, and strives to create a market-oriented, rule-based and international business environment. The imported food industry is pregnant with new development opportunities. With the entry into force of RCEP agreement and tariff adjustment, imported food enterprises have been effectively facilitated. With the support of the Standard Law Center of the General Administration of Customs, this year’s Eating Exhibition is co-sponsored by China Customs Association and Gordon Exhibition Group, specifically undertaken by Shanghai Gordon Commercial Exhibition Co., Ltd. and co-organized by Shanghai Customs Association. The main purpose of the exhibition is to help more overseas enterprises smoothly enter the China market, provide communication platforms and open up green channels, and strive for a huge market share in China and meet huge consumer demand. In addition, China Customs Media Center, as the media support unit of this year’s Eating Exhibition, will follow up the event release, promotion and introduction, exhibition reports, forum publicity and interviews with people in its own media, so as to better amplify the spillover effect of "Shanghai Eating Exhibition".
