5G Wing-Connected Private Network Scheme Leads Industry Transformation
Different from the traditional vehicle-vehicle networking data completely exposed to the public Internet, the 5G cloud network convergence technology relies on core products such as lightweight 5GC, distributed dUPF, MEC and integrated network management platform, and realizes the access capability of millions of vehicle safety private networks exclusively enjoyed by vehicle enterprises nationwide. In the long run, this technology will provide a safe and efficient operation guarantee for the tens of millions-scale car networking business of a single car company. By providing differentiated QoS guarantee, 5G cloud network convergence technology can accurately meet the diverse needs of different services for network quality. Based on the technology of 5G cloud network convergence, China Telecom Research Institute independently developed the 5G wing-connected private network scheme, which has successfully loaded many core services of car networking on the private network, such as vehicle data return, OTA upgrade and car entertainment, and significantly improved the information security and user experience of smart cars. According to Ou Liang, chief expert of China Telecom Research Institute’s cloud network element, the wide-area 5G wing-connected private network solution for intelligent networked vehicles aims at reporting sensitive data of intelligent networked vehicles (such as vehicle identity and driving behavior) and remote control scenarios. By customizing DNN+ exclusive UPF+ remote disaster recovery+weak network enhancement and other technical means, it has created a safe, flexible, reliable and credible exclusive wide-area 5G security private network for automobile enterprises to ensure the full-range transmission of sensitive data within the network. Its innovative highlights include building a multi-level security protection architecture, flexibly expanding to meet the demand of super-large-scale vehicles, combining with edge computing power to realize customized service of cloud network integration, and creating original weak network countermeasures technology to ensure communication stability in extreme network environment.

Experts attending the meeting agreed that China is in a leading position in the world in terms of technical strength and production capacity in the field of intelligent networked vehicles. Tan Hua, a senior expert of China Telecom Research Institute, said that with the blessing and empowerment of the 5G wing-connected private network, the cloud-based control operating system and low-delay graphic transmission core technology can significantly improve the remote control experience of intelligent networked vehicles, solve the problem of asynchronous control operation, and provide an end-to-end remote control scheme for intelligent networked vehicles to quickly get out of trouble and ensure the safety and efficiency of future roads.
Experts attending the meeting pointed out that intelligent networked vehicles have entered a new era of end-to-end data-driven product functions, and data security and OTA update experience are closely related to product sales. 5G technology has been applied in some scenes of intelligent networked vehicles, and it has great application potential in vehicle life cycle. Jiang Zhifeng, vice president of China Telecom Research Institute and general manager of China Telecom Intelligent Network Technology Co., Ltd., said that more than 110,000 vehicles of a new car-making enterprise have been connected to the 5G wing-connected private network, and are moving towards a higher level of on-line goal. "5G cloud network convergence+vehicle networking" shows excellent safety, stability and efficiency when dealing with massive device connections, which helps smart cars to steadily promote the application of assisted driving, achieve a higher level of automatic driving, and improve the level of urban vehicle-road coordination. It can not only bring users safer and more convenient travel services, but also be more conducive to intelligent traffic management in resilient cities.
